UPDATE - 10:15 a.m. (2/21/25)

Dear Broad Street Elementary School Families,

We are writing as a follow-up to the email sent at approximately 9:40 a.m. today regarding the residential gas leak in the neighborhood around Broad Street. Mechanicsburg Fire Department has secured the residential leak and has taken extra precautions together with the gas company to test the air throughout our school. They have since given the all-clear and, as of approximately 10:15 a.m., our Broad Street staff and students have safely returned to the building.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this precautionary evacuation. As always, the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. We also want to extend our sincere appreciation to the first responders in our community, whose swift response ensured the safety of our Wildcat community.

Dear Broad Street Elementary School Families,

We want to inform you that the Mechanicsburg Fire Department has identified a residential gas leak in the neighborhood around Broad Street. Out of an abundance of caution, they have required Broad Street Elementary School students and staff to evacuate as a safety precaution.

At this time, all Broad Street staff and students have been safely relocated to the Mechanicsburg Area Senior High School auditorium, where they will remain until we receive the all-clear from emergency responders.

We do not anticipate any need for an early dismissal at this time, and we will update you as soon as possible should further information necessitate additional communication. The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority.
